As Epic as Expected

And it's about time, too.

Now, I've only watched it once, so I haven't been able to pick up on all the subtle story elements that really make CTF what it is. However, what I did pick up on, I liked. A lot. When I saw that it was released I was all like 'FINALLY!', but now I realize I have to wait (what, another year?) for the next one. Dammit.

I don't know if it's improved or not, but I can say that I really noticed the detail that went into the art, and I've always liked the special style you've got going on. The dialogue was well- written and acted, although it was at times difficult to hear. Also, during the final scene with Evan, Amy, John, etc, the dialogue was lagging behind the animation by a good 3 seconds. I don't know if that was my computer or what, but it made it hard to follow what was going on. Hopefully that was just an isolated incident.

As I've said before, CTF really is one of my favorite series on Newgrounds, simply because it has such a unique story that's so different from everything else on here. That, coupled with superb art, acting, and writing makes it something I find myself eagerly following. You've done a great job so far, Aeon, and I can't wait to see the next episode!

I liked it!

I definitely noticed a lot of improvements over the first one, and, although I can't remember it very well to compare humour, I really thought this one was funny. The voice acting and animation was well done and I liked the twist ending, but I noticed a great many mistakes in terms of spelling (though I'm probably the only one who cares).

In conclusion, great Flash, can't wait for the third one!

PostTimeskipSam responds:

Oh dear...I should have double checked my spelling. Thanks for the review.

Genius.

I've watched this like 5 times already.

I thought the novel was genius, but this! This is true genius. I applaud you, good sir.

Not bad

Pretty good Sam, not your best work but still not bad. Some of the animation looked choppier than your normal but i assume you were rushed with a deadline, so that's forgivable. Keep 'em coming!

PostTimeskipSam responds:

Yea, as I said it was a filler so I did rush this animation, but I am glad you still liked it! =D

Great Animation!

I can't say I liked the humor too much, but I thought that the animation was really good, and it was fun to watch. The art could have been improved in a few places, but overall it was a great flash, nice job.

DWT-Productions responds:

Thanks matt, yeah british humor isnt that universal but nice to hear u liked the animation :)

Nice job!

That was really good, and definitely your best flash to date. I'm glad you shortened the info, but at least you left it in because it was funny even if it was a bit long. The animation was a little choppy at times (ex: the end walk cycle) but it was nevertheless a great job.

It's nice to see some Valentine flash's, and this was a great one!

PS - Thanks for crediting me!

PostTimeskipSam responds:

Yeah, I was lazzzzzy near the end which is why they were hoping instead of walking, but thanks for your review appreciate it.

I liked it

It was a good premise, and decent animation. It was also a longer movie, and that's always nice.

However, I didn't much like the art style. I liked the detailed way you reproduced the cameos to make them look like they're supposed to, but I didn't much like the way you drew the human characters. They looked good enough for a movie of this caliber, but I thought that they could have been a little smoother.

The music was good, but the song got kinda repetitive after a while. The sound in general, though, was of decent quality, but the voices started to sound somewhat the same.

As for the jokes, it had a few laughs, but nothing too great. (I did however really like the duck.fla reference - priceless!)

It was a good movie, and I had been looking forward to it, but I felt that it was lacking in a few areas. Overall, though, good job, and I can tell you both worked really hard on this.

7/10

RSQViper responds:

Well, I can agree on the level of detail, but I do think that the different styles next to each other can make the lack of details stand out a bit. The problem here, though, is that if we add detail to each area then both animators work start looking so different that it's like they don't belong next to each other and we had to avoid that.

As for the voices we actually really wanted to only use our own. Probably the two most alike ones were rsqviper's and Tom Fulp's.

This task was actually incredibly difficult, but we hope it can stand out on script and the fact we did it in a different way.

Great!

That was hilarious, and a big improvement over your other animations. I noticed a few problems and such, but overall, it was awesome, and I loved all the cameos and NG references. Great job, can't wait to see more!

PostTimeskipSam responds:

Thanks, for the review. Wasn't the smoother, but it was a big improvement compare to all my flashes. Which I am very happy how the animation turned out.

Not Bad...

I've been waiting for this Flash for a while. A while ago I saw HACKware 3 in The Portal and thought it was pretty good, so I checked out the others, and thought they were pretty good as well. Moving on to this one, however, I thought it was pretty good.

Humor was decent, I laughed quite a few times, especially at the, "One of my pancakes is eating the other" bit, that was awesome. Some parts I thought were kinda lame, like when the two guys sitting at the table in the beginning laughed in that high pitched squirrel voice, that kind of ruined the, "What would I do in the bathroom for 30 minutes" joke.

I thought the sound quality was better than the other cartoons, but as far as the actual voice acting went, I didn't like it much. It would have been a whole lot funnier if the voices didn't sound so emotionless, and exactly like you were reading from a script.

And now I've arrived at style and graphics. I know a few other reviewers before me have mentioned this, but it reminded me a lot of the Super Flash Bros. I noticed that the moment I saw HACKware for the very first time-I pressed play, saw what it looked like, and immediately said to myself, "The Super Flash Bros are in this guy's fave authors list." One thing that really reminds me of them are the mouths-They are exactly like the mouths in the tutorials on SuperFlashBros.net and on the characters in Decline, so I would suggest changing those around. The graphics have improved quite a lot, I was actually quite impressed. But once again, try tweaking some things here and there to make it more your own.

And one more thing before I wrap up this overly long review- The quality could have been better, overall. Some lines were unevn or different sizes or sticking out where they shouldn't have been, and small stuff like that. If you just make sure the graphics look neat and presentable, I'm sure it would get a higher score. It's small stuff like that can help a Flash. I'm not saying the graphics were bad-just clean them up a little.

So once again, good job on this Flash, and I hope to see more from you! Also, I'm sorry for the length of this review.

Sudden-Flash responds:

please, don't appologize for the long review, they are so much more useful than ones like "U ROOL DOOD!" or "GO DIE!" I can actually learn something from these types of reviews. Thanks for the honest review, the funny thing is, the SFB are on my fav. list, and the mouths used to be EXACLY like the mouths from edcline, they are different now, but not much, you're right. I try very hard to fix up the graphics (sometimes i think tweaking vector points is even harder than pixels... or maybe not lol). Anyway, will try harder from now on. The voice actors are not profsional, they are just friends of mine, we try our hardest to get the lines good. And we are all improving. In particular, Brad is getting a lot better. Shannon is also great, I really need to give her bigger parts to play in the episodes.
